Our Background

In cooperation with our sister church, Thailand Concordia Lutheran Church (TCLC), Lutheran Church–Canada (LCC) supports the ministries of two pastors serving in the south of Thailand, Rev. Suchart Chujit and Rev. Yoh Srikarkarn. Both pastors received theological training by LCC seminary professors and pastors who volunteered their time to teach courses through the Luther Institute Southeast Asia (LISA) program.

LCC has been assisting Thailand Concordia Lutheran Church in training church workers in the south of the country since 1989. Recently, in the winter of 2022, LCC’s Director of Missions, Rev. M.L. Smith, led a class on Law/Gospel and the Means of Grace for some of the deacons in Takua Pa, Thailand.

To commemorate the first complete translation of the Augsburg Confession in Thai, Thailand Concordia Lutheran Church invited Pastor Smith to lead a week-long seminar on the Augsburg Confession in Chiang Mai for the pastors and deacons of the church.

Along with our support of the ministry in Thailand, LCC has also provided emergency aid relief and other works of mercy, as well. Thanks to the generous support of LCC members and congregations, several humanitarian projects have been supported over the years, including the longterm educational funding of 15 children who were orphaned after the devastating tsunami in 2004. LCC gives thanks to God for our sister church and for the opportunity to be partners in the Gospel in Thailand.
